England: Da England, wie Schottland, Wales und Nordirland, Teil des “Vereinigten Königreiches Großbritannien und Nordirlands” (offizielle Langform) ist, listen wir die Einträge für diese Länder in der Kurzform “Vereinigtes Königreich”. Diese synekdochische Bezeichnung von England für das Vereinigtes Königreich wird von den Briten nicht verwendet, sie nennen Ihr Land nur “UK” oder “Britain”.

Holland: Hier verhält es sich ähnlich wie mit England. Holland ist nur ein Teil der Niederlande, wird aber als synekdochische Bezeichnung für die Niederlande in sehr vielen Sprachen verwendet. Daher finden Sie alle wichtigen Nummern für Holland unter dem offiziellen Namen “Niederlande”. Die dazugehörigen Karibikinseln finden Sie unter dem Eintrag “Niederländische Antillen”.

Amerika oder USA: Hier machen wir eine Ausnahme und verwenden die Langform. Offizielle Kurzform wäre “Vereinigte Staaten” was uns aber nicht deutlich genug war, daher haben wir die “Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika” gelistet. Dieser Eintrag umfasst alle 50 Bundesstaaten und Hawaii. Sollten Sie also auf Hawaii Urlaub machen, wählen Sie die ”Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika” aus. Alle anderen Anteile der USA an Ozeanien sind unter ihren offiziellen Namen zu finden, z. B. Guam, Amerikanisch-Samoa, etc.

Inseln im Allgemeinen: Wenn Sie z. B. auf einer Mittelmeerinsel der Balearen (Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza, Formentera oder Cabrera) Urlaub machen, dann wählen Sie Spanien aus. Die Notrufnummern funktionieren auch auf den Inseln und Sie bekommen auch die Konsulate auf den Inseln angezeigt, sofern vorhanden. Sollten Sie also die Insel nicht finden, dann suchen Sie das dazugehörige politische Land bzw. den Staat. Das gilt auch für die spanischen Kanaren, die griechischen Inseln, die Atolle der Malediven, die italienischen Inseln Sizilien und Sardinien oder das französische Korsika – also gleiches System weltweit. Egal ob Sie im Pazifik, Atlantik oder indischen Ozean unterwegs sind, die passende Nummer ist immer vorhanden.

we know – long time no see. Due to different changes in our company (Re-organization, moved the office, and expanded business areas) we could not focus on Global Help. But this is changing now. We are logging new emergency numbers and contacts of embassies world wide in the database for next export, we already fixed some clipping and some small issues, and fixed wrong data.

So please be patient with us, we try hard to release the new version 1.7 of Global Help before the end of March. And for the future we wanna do frequent updates with new data – maybe on a monthly base.

Additional Hints:
• Smoking is prohibited the first time in all tents – there are special areas for smoking
• keep you money in a safe pocket, we have pickpockets around
• don’t drink too much, the Oktoberfest beer is quite strong and you get 1 Liter (0,26 Gallon or 2,11 Pints) mugs
• @ the boys: be nice to your girls and respect them, the “Dirndl” is a traditional costume and no invitation
• @ the girls: you will see lot of firm boys in “Lederhosn” which is also a traditional costume

1. Start your iPhone or iPod touch.
2. Go to the screen where you can see the Global Help app.
3. Put your finger on the app and hold the finger till all apps start shaking.
4. You will see a white cross at the upper left corner on all custom apps.
5. Now, touch on the cross next to the Global Help app.
6. You will see a message that you are in progress to delete Global Help.
7. Confirm this step by clicking on “Delete”.
8. No need to rate the app (but you can, if you want), so you can click on “No”.
9. Now press the Home button (the big one at the bottom)
10. Apps stop shaking and the cross marks are gone.
11. Connect your iPhone with your computer and synchronize again.
12. Global Help will be installed new.
13. Disconnect your iPhone and please try again.

This can solve issues after you have updated “Global Help” with a newer version or after you have installed a newer iPhone OS version. You can use these steps also for all other apps with same symptoms.

But no panic if you deleted Global Help, the iTunes Store knows all about your purchases. So, just visit the App Store and get Global Help again for free. You have to tab on the “Buy now” button, and following message appears:

This update is free because you own a previous version of this item. To get this update now, select OK. You can update this software application for free. Would you like to update?

Issue:

Adding a new category with phone number and comments will not be displayed in the Country view after restarting Global Help.

You will see that your created category is still in the list of additonal categories (in the Edit mode), but the entry with phone number and comment is gone. This is very bad and we are planing to submit the fix to Apple this week. Depending on the approval process, we will have the fixed Version 1.5.1 asap.
